This government recognized Nutrition and Diet Therapy Diploma online qualifies for the Diploma in Nutrition and Diet Therapy. Course covers various modules in nutrition to enhance your knowledge in nutrition health and diet therapy.

After completion of theory, students will be expected to attend the 3 hour onsite lab after completing the diabetes theory and will be expected to purchasing the foot care kit to use in the lab.

At the onsite lab they will learn how to integrate the tools in providing foot care for high risk clients such as diabetics. Including:

  • Diabetic foot screen assessment, monofilament testing
  • Best Practices for Cleaning, Disinfection and Sterilization or tools
  • Health Canada and IPAC Foot Care Infection Control Standards
  • How to set up tools, use assessment forms, perform foot assessment using the monofilament testing to check for neuropathy in diabetics
  • How to use tools and equipment safely including  single use disposable tools including scissors, black file, rotary tools with disposable abrasive emery disc,  disinfectant, plastic apron, goggles, N95 mask, face shield,  gloves, carrying case etc..
  • Best Practices in Reducing Risks of Cross Contamination when performing Diabetic foot care
  • Sterilization with and Autoclave if using reusable tool
  •  Performing a foot care treatment, filing, cutting nails using nail nippers, ingrown scissors, using the black file to clean detritus. 
  • Theory and practice on the safe use of disposable foot file and use of rotary disc
  • Using urea base product to decrease callus formation
  • Health teaching on using proper foot wear
  • When to refer to a primary health care provider

After completing the in class lab:  Students will be expected to complete 20 hands on case studies that they will find on their own from their communities.

Each hands-on case study will take approximately 2 hours to complete.
